The research on this website has turned up historical cases of FSKs that number many times the multiple of the numbers of cases reported in the standard literature. Thus the statistics found in standard literature on FSKs must be treated as obsolete and in need of being re-examined by teams of scholars who can put to use the new research – which includes data on many hundreds of “forgotten” cases – that supersedes what is currently available in order to present a more accurate picture of the subject of FSKs.

Excerpt: Robert St. Estephe, “Breaking the Silence of the Lambs: Female Serial Killers and Collective Amnesia,” Sep. 19, 2015 (also published under the title “Collective amnesia regarding violence by women / call for reform,” A Voice for Men, Nov. 20, 2015)

From: 3. Collective Amnesia

Wuornos was not only not America’s first female serial killer, but was more like the 275th and she was, according to my current count, the 13th to be executed in this country. [15]

The experts have determined that “female serial killers are rare” (in comparison with their male counterparts). The experts, represented, for example, by 135 participants from 10 countries in the FBI’s 2008 international conference on “Serial Murder,” [16] base their claims on incomplete research (without ever stopping to wonder whether historical research is even slightly systematic, let alone as complete as can be reasonably managed). [17]

The “official” number of historical US female serial killer cases (up to the last few years) is often used is 62. The most commonly cited estimate of the ratio of male to female serial killers is 1:6. My own list of US cases from the period 1829-2008 includes 330. [18] We might as just how rare are these criminals when there are 5 times as many as the experts say there are?

  1. Instead of the murderer's wife Monique Olivier, you posted the picture of an innocent woman who just happens to have the same name.

  2. This is the same face that appears in the mugshot that appears in the crimelibrary.com article: Rachael Bell, “Michel Fourniret Serial Killer”

  3. 1. The trial of Beate Zschäpe is not yet finished. 2. She is "just" accused of complicity. Currently classification under serial killer is therefore not correct.

  4. "Fact" is a strong word. Such a notion would have to be based on the assumption that all cases are known. Just because a certain writer prints an estimate or a claim (based on available information) never makes something a "fact." Might I request a specific reference citation for the claim of this "fact?" It might be advisable to look at the Index here and comparing its listings to those in the source you cite. A quick way to spot check might be to use the list of "Female Serial Killers of 19th Century America" here to check against the source you are using (since there are old cases, available in English, and would presumably be know to the scholar making such a claim "86%"). I am quite confident that the source will be missing the vast majority of the cases on the 19th Century America list.

RE: Number of victims: take a look at "Prolific Female Serial Killers." There are some impressive numbers there. Credonia Mwerinde is especially notable. I have not seen her listed in any list of serial killers (apart from mine) as of yet.
