Anna Zavarikina, Russian Cross-Dressing Marriage Racketeer – 1935


FULL TEXT (Article 1 of 2): A Woman “Bluebeard” Anna Zavarikina, who made off with the fortunes of nine “wives,” was arrested today [Dec. 15, 1935] on swindling charges.

Anna’s procedure was to dress like a man, woo and marry her victims. Immediately after the wedding she would coax her “bride” into a drunken stupor and then escape with money and possessions.

Thereafter she dressed as a woman, making police detection difficult. Doctors found Anna normal.

FULL TEXT (Article 2 of 2):: Anna Zavarikina, the female “Bluebeard” of Kadievka, Russia, has been arrested on swindling charges. She is said to have married nine “wives” and later made away with all their property. Authorities state that she dressed as a man and married nine “wives” and later made away with all their property.
