Elisabeth Rakoczy, Serial Baby-Killer – Hungary, 1899


NOTE: While only two deaths, both occurring in the same day, it is reasonable to assume the starvation of children was an ongoing practice of Frau Elisabeth Rakóczy, as with so many other “baby farmers” whose charges were routinely starved to death in order to profit from the savings in food cost.

FULL TEXT (translated from German): Békés, April. (Orig.- Telegr) Against Ms. Elisabeth Rakoczy, who was a commercial child nurse, an anonymous report was received that she was starving the children. Yesterday,  two twins of a tailor died at the same time. The corpse of one child was dissected. The investigation was initiated.

FULL TEXT: Békés, April. (Orig.- Teleg r) Gegen Frau Elisabeth Rakóczy, die gewerbsmäßig Kinderin Ammenschaft nahm, wurde die anonyme Anzeige erstattet, daß sie die Kinder verhungern lasse. Gestern starben gleichzeitig zwei Zwillingskinder eines Schneiders. Der Leichnam des einen Kindes wurde sezirt. Die Untersuchung wurde eingeleitet.
