Marian Scholz & Harriet Elms, Mother & Daughter Badger Game Team – Los Angeles, 1915

FULL TEXT: Los Angeles, April 22. — Mrs. Marian Scholz, “badger girl,” pleaded guilty today to a charge of attempting to extort money from William Poison, a wealthy contractor, who accused the woman and her mother, Mrs. Harriet Elms, of playing the ancient “badger game." Mrs. Elms recently was found guilty.

According to Polsen’s Story to the jury in the latter case, he visited Mrs. Scholz to discuss plans for a bungalow she proposed to build. Mrs. Elms and Mrs. Scholz’s husband rushed in to the room, he declared, and compelled him to submit to being photographed with Mrs. Scholz in compromising circumstances, then demanded money.
