Mrs. Jones Attacks Another Woman With Carbolic Acid – West Virginia 1913

FULL TEXT: Wheeling, W. Va., Nov. 8. – After waiting till late for her husband to come home, Mrs. Frank Jones sent to the home, Mrs. Frank Jones sent to the home of Mrs. Charles Forest and asked if he had been there. On being told that Mr. Jones had not been there, Mrs. Jones dashed a quantity of carbolic acid into Mrs. Forest’s face, burning her about the face, hands and chest.

A neighbor, Mrs. Frank Debold who was also in the room with her baby, was slightly burned about the face when a part of the acid struck her.

Mrs. Jones then ran from the house, and, according to the police, was met by a male accomplice and the two hurried toward the Ohio river. A search was made along the river bank last night, it having at first been though that Mrs. Jones had thrown herself into the river in an attempt to take her life. Later investigation, however, developed that the woman was met by a man and the two disappeared.

The police allege that Mrs. Jones had tried to warn Mrs. Forest that his wife might throw acid on her and had visited the house a moment before his wife came, but when he noticed his wife coming he ran away.
