FULL TEXT: When Mrs. Mayme McConnel, wife of a New York Central railroad conductor residing at 116 East Marion street, Elkhart answered the door bell at her home at 7 o’clock last evening an unknown woman, wearing a stocking cap, threw carbolic acid into her face.
This afternoon it was said that Mrs. McConnell, who was a very handsome woman, will be scarred for life.
Her left eye is so badly injured that loss of sight is probable. Her breast and
neck are burned. Until the acid was thrown, Mrs. McConnell was not aware that
she had an enemy.
Police are investigating.
