Yadira Narváez Marin murdered five men and another survived an attempted murder. All were older than she. Yadira claimed to have three accomplices yet none, apparently were, arrested. She used a standard method in most of her murders. She would visit the targeted man, who wished to sell an automobile, in his home. She would poison the victim. Usually the body would be found in the bathroom, apparently because they would try to take a shower to believe the symptoms of shortness of breath and hot flashes. Yadira would then drive off with the car.
An exception to the standard m. o. was the murder of Simon Vega of Caqueta who had a motorcycle for sale. She lured him to a spot and stalled, waiting, she said, for a stepson to arrive with necessary documents. She gave her victim poisoned beer, he dashed, his head spinning, to the toilet and vomited up the toxic mix, saving his life. He rushed out for medical care and this allowed Yadira to make off with the motorcycle.
The press give her a nickname – “Queen of the scopolamine" «Reina de la Escopolamina» – that designated a common poison but her choice of poison was different. Instead she used Furadan (or Carbofuran) an agricultural pest killer.
Yadira Narváez Marin’s prison sentences totals more than 100 years. Although Yadira was convicted of poisoing six men, the actual number of her victims is reportedly “many more that even she can count.”
