FULL TEXT: The alimony racket in California is going to take a decided slump as a result of a bill passed by the legislature and signed by the governor.
When
a woman divorces husband No. 1 and marries husband No. 2 her alimony from her
first husband stops. There have been several instances where women have been
collecting alimony from two or three ex-husbands and when they failed to pay it
was jail for them.
Because
such practices smack of racketeering the state decided to put a stop to it. If a
woman can't get by on the income of one husband she should take lessons in
management and clamp the brakes down on her expenditures.
However,
in cases where there are children ex-husbands will still contribute toward
upkeep which is fair and just.
