Esther Hacken Blinds Her 70-year-old Father With Carbolic Acid – Chicago 1906


FULL TEXT: Chicago, July 21.—Esther Hacken, a young woman who acted as housekeeper for her father, who is seventy years of age, threw carbolic acid in his eyes, totally blinding him. She told the police after being arrested that her father had interfered so often in the management of the household affairs that she could no longer endure it and that during a quarrel she picked up the bottle of acid and dashed it in his face.
