Alimony Jail - 1937

FULL TEXT: “I’m willing to pay,” says Joseph Bighorse, full blooded restricted Ossage Indian, concerning a $2,000 alimony payment. But it doesn’t help much for Bighorse, languishing in alimony row of the Tulsa county, Oklahoma, jail for seven months, apparently has nothing to say about it. The federal government and the state of Oklahoma are engaged in a legal battle over control of the Bighorse oil fortune. Thus, the Ossage Indian agency, which handles Bighorse royalty earnings, will not release a dime to pay the alimony. And Bighorse remains in jail!
