Bridget Little Was in Love With Her Widowed Son-in-Law: So She Tossed Acid in His Face - 1895

FULL TEXT: New York: Because her son-in-law, a man 32 years old, would not marry her, Mrs. Bridget Little, 62 years old, threw carbolic acid in his face last night. The victim is George D. Smith, who has been living with his dead wife’s mother at 657 First avenue. Since his wife’s death two years ago, Mrs. Little has shown a decided preference for her son-in-law, which the latter does not seem to have reciprocated.

She asked him to walk home with her last evening, and not receiving a satisfactory reply, threw the contents of a small bottle of carbolic acid over the left side of his face. His burns are not serious.
