Jennetta Barnes, North Carolina Acid Attacker – 1985


FULL TEXT: A Lumberton was charged with malicious throwing of acid Tuesday in connection with the incident that occurred June 24, Lumberton Police Department Deputy Chief A. L. Carrll said this morning.

Carroll said Jennetta Barnes, 19, of Parkview Terrace, was arguing with her boyfriend’s sister, Jamie Abernathy of Lumberton, when she allegedly throw acid on her.

The acid burned Ms. Abernathy’s face and upper body, but she was not hospitalized.

Carroll said the acid was sent to a lab for testing.

Ms. Barnes was jailed under a $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Robeson County District Court today.
